The Narthex is a visitor centre and multi-use building serving the Cathedral. It is a community building designed to encourage access to the Cathedral in all respects; spiritually, socially, intellectually and physically. Funded by donations and grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund and others it is a huge success and well-used everyday.
Constructed using as far as possible locally sourced materials the Narthex is a long life, robust building which can easily be adapted in the future.
